If a few years ago, bloggers had no influence whatsoever on fashion trends, today the table has turned. Fashion bloggers have such a significant influence in fashion direction that fashion houses are churning out collections inspired by their Instagram feeds.
Top internet sensations like Chiara Ferragni even has a namesake shoe brand which reportedly brings in USD$5 million a year (on top of the USD$3 million she already makes from blogging). Our own Oracle Fox travels the world to sniff out the latest trends at fashion weeks not just on the runways but those ‘peacocked’ by bloggers on the streets. Just what are fashion bloggers wearing this season?
The keyword is minimalism. Finally, fashion that is not scary (like Lady Gaga’s meat dress). ‘Less is more’ best describes the minimalist style which is at the core of designer labels like Celine, Chloe and Sydney’s Josh Goot. It is pared down yet extremely detailed when it comes to tailoring and texture balance. Black and white make a big part of minimalist styling. Instead of bright colours, the minimalist style captures attention through voluminous or sculptured pieces. Not missing out on the global blogger trends, Brisbane blogger Manda Wilde shows us her top picks right here from Queen Street. Here, she balances this oversized coat with a sleek, figure-hugging knit dress. Her clutch has no embellishments yet is intriguing thanks to its fluid look. By the way, if you are inspired by any of these pieces, they are all from stores located right here in the Wintergarden Queen Street Mall. Not forgetting our international readers, you may shop online at Sheike.com.au, Mjbale.com and Dinosaurdesigns.com.au.
If you’re out shopping, think sleek blazers, bias cut dresses with racer-back straps and lunch bag clutches that can be rolled up and down. The best thing about minimalist pieces is that they can be easily incorporated into your existing wardrobe and be carried forward to the next season. And while you’re trying the minimalist look, you might want to experiment with sleek hair as seen on Manda. The look is clean, almost androgynous.
Whilst white shirts have always been popular, this year, it is THE must have in your wardrobe. From soft chiffon pieces to crisp and tailored ones, the white shirt is your go-to item. Look for quality, well-made shirts that you can take from work to play. Below, Manda Wilde wears a white shirt from M.J. Bale.
If you are feeling brave, we are absolutely in love with this final look. A sculptured yet fluid skirt paired with a crisp white shirt is ultra chic for cocktail parties and special events. Whatever the trends are this season, just remember that it’s extremely important that you are comfortable with what you wear. Happy experimenting!
