We’re head over heels with this girl. Elena Perminova is one of Russia’s most prominent style connoisseurs. Strolling to and from the fashion shows in Paris’s Tuileries Garden, you’ll see her wearing actual runway pieces like on the day of the show itself, putting posers to shame. But she is far from obnoxious. It’s easy to dismiss Elena Perminova as just another spoilt Russian couture customer. As the wife of Russian billionaire Alexander Lebedev, a former KGB spy and funder of the Independent and London Evening Standard newspapers, her back story should be made into a movie.
She met Lebedev, 52, under extraordinary circumstances. At the age of 16, Perminova was arrested for distributing drugs in a disco. The police were couldn’t provide her with protection for helping with the arrest of local drug barons, so Lebedev, who at the time was a deputy in the Duma and lobbying for a witness-protection program, stepped in. Perminova went on to study economics at Moscow State University, and eventually fell in love with Lebedev. The couple now have 3 children. Yes. Children. Perminova got back into shape just two months after giving birth to her daughter last year.
Perminova’s style is part rocker, part cowboy. Her long legs means that she pulls off outfits that no one else could dream up, be it an oversized cape by Chloe or head-to-toe Valli prints. It’s hard to not like her, though. There is a sense of humility in her. And she’s just as happy in Zara as she is in Givenchy—she’ll pair a casual Kenzo tiger sweatshirt with, say, minuscule cutoff Levi’s. If you don’t have a bank balance like Perminova’s try CupoNation. They’ve got the best deals for fashionable merchandises from brands and shops like ASOS, The Iconic, Sheike and more.
