Heard about the Olivia Palermo wedding? After six and a half years of courtship, last Sunday, Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl became husband and wife. The two said their vows in an intimate ceremony among only a handful of family members and closest friends in a quiet park tucked away in Bedford, New York. “We really wanted to keep this beautiful day very private and special to us and enjoyed the whole day with our family and two friends. Bedford is such an amazing and romantic countryside.”
Olivia Palermo’s wedding dress has been the source of speculation for months – with almost every designer whose dresses she wears, from Cavalli to Valentino, touted as the eventual designer. But this weekend all the questions were answered: Olivia looked effortlessly stunning in a three elegant pieces all by wedding designer favorite, Carolina Herrera. In line with her preppy-with-a-twist off-duty style, she did really wear a sweater with shorts, for real. Her sweater was cashmere with scattered ostrich feathers and she styled that with chic white shorts with a full tulle skirt overlay that cinched at the waist in layers of satin and silk and featured a high slit in the front with floral details along the hem. Her hair and makeup were kept easy and sophisticated as her hair was pulled back and up in her signature centered-part pony-tail and natural-looking makeup provided a soft romantic touch. Nothing like Kimye. “I wanted the makeup to be light and fresh and more focused about the lashes while keeping the eyes clean. My hair was in an uncontrived Pony Tail, one of my favorite personal looks,” said Olivia. [OLIVIAPALERMO.COM]
Johannes perfectly complimented his bride’s ensemble while looking particularly dapper in a bespoke tailored white Marc Anthony Hamburg suit with a Marc Anthony Hamburg piquet shirt, a navy Charvet tie and navy Etro pocket square. Olivia wore delicate trinkets in the form of stud earrings by Alexandra Mor and a bracelet bought while visiting Jodhpur, India.
As for her “something blue” Olivia wore the same Manolo courts that Carrie Bradshaw married in at her civil ceremony for the Sex and the City movie, (not bought especially for the occasion though, but in fact an old favourite).
This really was refreshing to see. What do you think?
