While we all love our high end lipsticks and our fancy foundations, I think some of the best makeup can actually be found in drugstores (or what we call high street shops for Brits out there and pharmacies in other countries). There are some amazing products that you can find for not a lot of money. Personally, most of my own makeup come from drugstores, so today I’ll be giving you my top five beauty picks!
1. Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer
This product is definitely my favourite concealer right now, and it probably will be for a while. If you’re like me and suffer from dark circles, I’d definitely recommend trying this out. It covers them instantly and lasts all day. I definitely feel like it makes my skin look brighter.
2. Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation
I’ve not been using this foundation for that long, probably only for a month or so, but its quickly become a must-have. It gives you really good coverage, it covers all my little (and big) blemishes and lasts all day. It also has a really lovely fruity kind of smell. I just really love this foundation and I think I’ll be using it for a while!
3. Garnier Caffeine Eye Roll-On
I’ve been using this product for years and I still love it today. Like I mentioned earlier, I suffer from really dark under eye circles but this product has been a life saver for me. It’s designed to hydrate, cool and refresh tired-looking eyes. I use this product before any other products just to make myself look more awake and to make a start on covering my dark circles. It works like magic and I highly recommend it if you suffer from dark circles like me!
4. Benefit They’re Real Mascara
In other countries Benefit might be in department stores rather than drugstores. While this product is a little more expensive I’d say it’s definitely worth the money. You can also pick up a miniature version of it which is a lot cheaper than the full size version. This mascara has pretty much been the love of my life for the past year. It’s got a really good consistency, is really easy to apply and also lasts all day! It really makes my eyelashes look SUPER long and amazing. It does take a bit of persistence to take off at the end of the day, but that might just be because I use a lot! Like I said, you can pick up a mini/travel sized version for pretty cheap.
5. Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm
I had seen a lot of reviews about this product and it sounded really good so I decided to try it for myself. Now I’m not usually someone who wears lipstick a lot, mainly because I dont like the way it feels on my lips. But I’ve fallen in love with this product. It goes on really smoothly and soon I actually forget I have anything on my lips! It comes in a range of gorgeous colours but I picked up “Striking” which is a bright red colour. It lasts a long time for me and only really comes off when I rub my lips (usually without thinking!). I really love this product and recommend it to you if you’re a lipstick kind of girl.
Well, that’s it! These are my top beauty products from the drugstore. So what are your favourites?

So what is so special about it?
Dazzling in a copper or gold finish, this 19mm tong is for defined curls and includes ceramic technology, 30 heat settings and comes with bonus metallic hair elastics to finish your look.
30 heat settings
60 second heat up
Cool touch tip
Bonus hair elastics
The curler looks exclusive thanks to the bronze finish. It heats up in 60 seconds making it suitable for everyday use.
You get 2 hair ties which are useful when curling in sections. The brush sleeve is great for sorting out unruly hair.
The curler has a cool tip in case you need to touch the tip to curl much easier and faster.
HOW TO USE IT
Take a section of hair and place the curling tong into the hair. Spread hair evenly between the clamp and the barrel. Make sure the ends are securely wound underneath the clamp in the direction of the desired curl to avoid crimped ends. Wind the hair up as far as you want it to be curled, being very careful not to let the appliance touch the scalp. Hold the tong in the hair for five to eight seconds and then press the lever to release the hair. Carefully slide the tong out of the hair. Leave the curl to cool so that it sets fully in the hair before you comb out or style further. For a more tousled look run your fingers through the curls to break them up once the hair has cooled.
Wind the tong up towards the hair root or as far up the hair section as you want curls. For a more modern curl, don’t wind the tong right the way up to the top of the hair section; instead, leave at least 7cm from the root to the start of the curl).
To create flicks take up a section of the ends of the hair and twist up to create flicks. To create rounded ends, turn under.
The type of curl achieved depends not just on the size the barrel but also on the section of hair that you wind around the barrel of the curling tong. For looser, free-flowing curls, use bigger sections. For more defined, tighter curls, use smaller sections. Spray the hair with hairspray for extra protection and hold prior to curling.
The secret is finally out. We’re just recovering from the Isabel Marant storm last November but during a party at the Coachella Music Festival in Palm Springs this week, H&M announced that their next designer collaboration will be with Alexander Wang! On November 6 this year, it is time to sharpen your elbows and put your game face on, as the Alexander Wang x H&M Collection will hit around 250 stores worldwide and online.
The young New York talent, who is also the creative director for Balenciaga, unveiled the new relationship – which will include a collection of men’s and women’s clothing, as well as his famed accessories – via Instagram. We’re not sure how it will look like but here’s Wang’s latest AW2014-15 collection which showed in New York, just to give you an idea. We are anticipating heavy textures, utilitarian outfits, cutout shinguard boots and structured bags.
“I am honoured to be a part of H&M’s designer collaborations,” Wang said recently. “The work with their team is an exciting, fun process. They are very open to pushing boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle.”
“Alexander Wang is one of the most important voices in fashion today,” H&M’s creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch added. “He understands exactly what people want to wear and does it with an energy and passion that’s infectious. It feels incredible to be collaborating with him this year.”
Wang’s official Instagram page posted a video featuring a basketball scoreboard which showed a digital countdown to the “Wang X HM” launch. Another video then confirmed that an event at music festival Coachella – which will feature acts including Iggy Azalea – will take place today under the “Wang X HM” banner.
Some of the industry’s biggest names – from Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Matthew Williamson to Versace, Lanvin and Marni – have also designed for the high-street brand.
The Alexander Wang For H&M collection will be unveiled on November 6.
